Novice Paddle Boarder Alert!

Today, I had hoped to enjoy paddle boarding with my 14-year-old daughter, but it turned out to be a complete disaster. Despite getting a great deal on some inflatable kayak hybrids from Isle, things didn't go as planned. As soon as we got on the water, my daughter capsized within the first 10 minutes. Living in eastern SD means dealing with lakes full of seaweed and murky waters. Even though she had a life jacket on and could swim, she panicked and refused to put her feet down due to the unknown beneath. I had to swim out to rescue her, but she ended up upset, telling me she hated me and breaking into tears. The drive back home was silent, and hours later, she was still too embarrassed to explain what had happened. I wonder if I'll be able to convince her to give water activities another try. Perhaps I'll wait for her to express interest next time, and maybe I'll bring my husband along instead!
